My Perfect Disney Vacation

I talk to a lot of people about Walt Disney World vacations and I am a firm believer that you have to do Disney YOUR way. Every family is different and Disney has something for everyone, you just have to know where to find the best of Disney for you.

For us, our family has changed over the years and so has the way we enjoy WDW. There is a 10 year age gap in our children so once a upon a time, I had a double stroller walking around meeting princesses while my husband took the older two to ride the 'big rides' that our little girls were too small for at the time. NOW, our 'big kids' aren't even with us half the time (you know, growing up, becoming adults, jobs and schools) and our 'little girls' are begging to hit those 'big rides.'

For me though, the perfect Disney vacation will almost always be the ones that are NOT overly planned which has gotten easier as the kids have gotten older. We sleep late, get to the parks late, and stay later. In general, we don't rope drop, we don't stand in really long lines, and we don't fight the fireworks crowd. BUT, that's because we have already done it.

We still make a daily meal reservation. We still have a list of what we would like to do but we just go with the flow. We relax and utilize the Disney app as much as possible to make sure we keep wait times as short as possible. We typically only stand in one or two long lines per day at most. We love how the crowds thin throughout the day. We love riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during fireworks. We love riding the Skyliner during fireworks! We love trying things we've never done, eating food we've never eaten, going to shows we've never seen and at Disney, there's always something we've never done.

The best vacations are stress free and I want my children to remember fun times at Disney, not a stressed out mom trying to keep to a tight schedule. But that's me, you do Disney your way. If you want to stand in lines all day long, go for it. If you want to stay at the same resort each trip, have at it. If you want the 'popular' experiences, do them! But make sure that's what works for you. Don't do Disney everyone else's way. Do Disney your WAY!
